The Qantas Group property footprint spans over 2 million square metres in over 100 locations. Within this, the Group’s unique property lease portfolio numbers over 400 lease in a diverse range of areas including corporate offices, airport terminals, customer lounges, engineering hangars, car parks and freight facilities. The majority share of these leases reside on airport land making commercial strategy and negotiations complex. 

 

The Group’s Property Leasing function sits within Commercial Airports and the Manager Corporate Real Estate & Leasing reports to the Head of Property Leasing. Strategically the role sits within the broader framework for managing property activities which requires close integration with both the Group Property and Commercial Airports team. As a specialist corporate function the role also requires strong collaboration with business segments and other specialist areas like Qantas Legal to deliver a cost effective, “Group First” outcome in the property leasing space. 

 

Working within a small but high performing team the Leasing Manager will be responsible for administering the Group’s strategy in real estate leasing including commercial negotiation with landlords, lease documentation and execution, lease termination activities, internal and external stakeholder management, technical support for business units, governance (including TILTA administration), financial planning and development and implementation of process improvement initiatives. The role is also responsible for oversight of embedded/outsourced partners who assist in lease management including the rent role.


You’ll have –

  • 5 + years experience in property teams strongly preferred. 
  • Tertiary qualifications in property-related field and previous
  • Extensive negotiation skills and experience. 
  • Strong relationship and stakeholder management skills 
  • The ability to understand the key long term property cost drivers affecting Qantas 
  • Strong focus on continuous process improvement and best practice outcomes. 
  • Strong written and commercial skills 
  • Project management experience 
  • Governance process experience (for example writing RFAs) 
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
